Wedding Photo Advice for Groomsmen

September 25, 2018 | Posted in Trends, Uncategorized, Weddings

The bride and bridesmaids seem to have this natural flare for the camera. When the camera is on they know how to find the proper lighting, strike a pose, and smile. Yet, when it comes to taking photos of the grooms and groomsmen, a little assistance may be needed. They tend to be a bit more inexperienced and in some cases, being in the spotlight puts them on edge. Fortunately, professional wedding photographers are good at helping the guys get past their nerves and really shine in wedding photos.

Make Sure You’re Well Groomed
Professional cameras pick up on the tiniest details. So, if you want to look your best in your wedding pictures, it’s important that you are properly groomed. Get rid of the stubble, make sure your haircut is sharp, brush your eyebrows, wash and exfoliate the skin, and give yourself a once-over in the mirror before stepping out for photos.

Channel Your Alter Ego
If there was ever a time to perform, now would be the time. If you’re a bit nervous about taking wedding photos, channel your alter ego to lend you a helping hand. Whether you feel like James Bond, Frank Sinatra from the Rat Pack, or the ever dapper David Beckham, just dig down deep and pull out that inner suave.

Make it Funny
Don’t take things so seriously. After you’ve taken a few traditional bridal party poses, mix things up and just have fun. Use some props, make a funny face, strike an interesting pose. If you can get the bride and the rest of the bridal party to laugh, it makes for a better wedding photo anyway.

The Groom’s Crew
There’s no reason for you to be anxious or nervous when taking wedding photos. You’ve got your boys right there supporting you. Most wedding photographers give grooms and groomsmen their opportunity to snap a few shots with the gang. Embrace this time and just let loose with the fellas as you get random shots that actually turn out really awesome and fun.

It’s natural to be nervous about taking wedding photos. Especially if you’re not much of a photo person to begin with. That doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t pull off some stunning shots on your wedding day. All you have to do is look the part, channel your alter ego, lighten up, and remember that your crew is right there to support you on this special day. The rest is history.
